Why you should join Hughes Center's
Parent, Teacher, Student Association (PTSA)?
Can I really make a difference? Yes, when you are involved, your child
achieves more.
How do I help my child succeed? You can help your child succeed by
providing a home that encourages learning and supports your child's physical,
mental and emotional development. And, you can help your child succeed by
working with the school and other community groups that have an impact on
your child.
What happens if I get involved? Decades of research show that when
parents are involved with their school's PTSA, students have;
Higher grades, test scores, and
graduation rates.
Better school attendance.
Increased motivation, better self-esteem
Lower rates of suspension
Decreased use of drugs and alcohol
Fewer instances of violent behavior
Greater enrollment rates in post-secondary education

How can I help?Become an active member
of the Hughes PTSA (membership fee is only five dollars). Share your ideas
and donate your time in order to make your child's educational experience
a memorable one.
What is the PTSA currently working towards?
Planning for the upcoming school
year.
Collaborating with the Hughes Alumni on various projects, such as a school
yearbook.
Planning our annual major fundraiser (all proceeds benefit the Hughes Center).
Developing criteria to establish scholarships for students.
Building a better communication flow of information to parents regarding
school resources and activities.
